Historic Stone Kitchen Shelter

Expired

Description

Spend a few hours in the coolest historic building at Silver Falls! Engage park visitors with information and anecdotes about the history of the park, the Civilian Conservation Corp and it's relevance to Silver Falls, the geology of the area, and the impacts of the logging industry to the natural and economic landscape.

Built in 1937, this building represents the transition from private homesteads and private land use of the forest and canyon to conservation efforts through public land management. Building a State Park required offering facilities to park visitors such as restrooms, trails, and picnic shelters like the Stone Kitchen Shelter.
